The Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest is pleased that Chris “Big Dog” Davis is back and producing another Celebrating Women in Jazz concert.

For his fourth edition of Celebrating Women in Jazz, Chris, the highly accomplished, two-time Grammy-nominated producer, and pianist from Connecticut, will showcase the amazing talents of Regina Belle, Maysa, Paulette McWilliams, Chelsey Green, and Jazmin Ghent.

Regina Belle is an award-winning singer-songwriter who started her career in the mid-1980s.

Known for her singles “Baby Come to Me” and “Make It Like It Was, Belle is most notable for three hit duets, all with Peabo Bryson: “Without You,” the love theme from Leopard Part 6  recorded in 1987; “A Whole New World,”  the main theme of the animated feature film Aladdin recorded in 1992, with which Belle and Bryson won a Grammy Award.

Maysa is an exceptional singer whose unique style captures the essence of each song she performs, creating an unforgettable experience for her audience. Her distinct honey-toned, mezzo-soprano voice and magnetic stage presence set her apart, making her a cherished figure in the music industry.

Known for her honesty, humor, and integrity as an artist, Maysa has earned accolades and recognition, including Soul Train’s Centric Award and a Grammy nomination.

Paulette McWilliams quit ascending Chicago R&B group Rufus and recommended that her friend, Chaka Khan, take over the lead spot.

The decision benefited everyone, even (and arguably especially) McWilliams, who dodged the pitfalls of limelight while continuing to work constantly in music.

Top musicians knew what she could do with her voice: Quincy Jones added her backing vocals to Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall; Aretha Franklin extended a similar invitation (on 1982’s Jump to It and 1983’s Get It Right); and for 20 years she collaborated with Luther Vandross (they were both part of Bette Midler’s famous backing group, the Harlettes).

Her latest solo album, A Woman’s Story, shows why those superstars — and dozens of others — have relied on her over the years. McWilliams’s warm, smoky tone emphasizes the emotional resonance of a diverse repertoire that makes room for Marvin Gaye as well as Janis Ian, and she avoids gaudy flourishes — despite her dynamic range, she judiciously picks her spots to take flight. When she sticks to slow tempos, she uses her voice to direct the rhythm section’s grooves, letting the songs breathe.

Chelsey Green brings the vibrancy of violin and viola performance — and her rich, soulful vocals — to worldwide audiences in a whole new way. With performances often described as passionate, vivacious, electrifying, and genre-defying, Green has become a must-see performer.

Jazmin Ghent is an award-winning jazz saxophonist and educator, rapidly becoming a leading voice in contemporary jazz, R&B, and gospel. Her album, The Story of Jazz, earned her a prestigious NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Jazz Album in 2019.

Beyond her performance career, Ghent is a passionate music educator. She dedicated five years to teaching music to K-5 students in Lakeland, Fla. Her commitment to education extends internationally, including a U.S. Embassy-sponsored trip to Haiti in 2020, leading music workshops, and headlining the International Jazz Festival in Port Au Prince.
