The Columbia (MD) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated in conjunction with the Peabody Insititute of the Johns Hopkins University present the 33rd annual Peabody Concert scheduled for Sunday, February 26, 2023, beginning at 2:00 pm.
This free concert continues the decades-long tradition of celebrating student musicians and performers of the African Diaspora. Attendees can expect to be awed by the talent of the student performers, as they each share their gifts through voice, dance and instrumental performances. The program will be approximately 1.5 hours followed by a reception including light refreshments and a meet and greet with the performers.
The Peabody Institute students will perform uniquely and traditionally composed pieces that align with this year’s theme: Black Renaissance. The students chose this theme to pay homage to Black History Month and the exhibition at The Walters Art Gallery entitled “Activating the Renaissance”.
The concert will culminate in a dynamic performance by special guest Dr. Chelsey Green, a Billboard-charting violinist, vocalist, educator and Peabody graduate.
Since starting this event over 30 years ago, The Columbia (MD) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated has donated more than $75,000 to support the Student Emergency Fund at the Peabody Institute and awards a stipend to each student participating in the event.
